5. Rider Responsibility and Assumption of Risk

Electric bicycles are powered vehicles capable of causing serious injury, death, or property damage.

Riding risks may include collisions, falls, loss of control, mechanical failure, road hazards, weather conditions, rider error, improper assembly, excessive speed, and the actions of other road users.

Riders must:

  • Read and follow the owner’s manual;
  • Wear an appropriate helmet and protective equipment;
  • Ride within their experience and skill level;
  • Observe applicable traffic and safety laws;
  • Avoid reckless riding, racing, stunts, jumps, or unsafe speeds;
  • Avoid riding while impaired by alcohol, drugs, medication, exhaustion, or distraction;
  • Perform a pre-ride safety inspection;
  • Stop using the product when damage or abnormal operation is detected.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the rider assumes the ordinary and foreseeable risks associated with operating an electric bicycle.

Nothing in this Legal Notice excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Assembly, Inspection and Maintenance

Some Likebike products may require assembly, installation, adjustment, or inspection before use.

Before the first ride, the purchaser or a qualified technician should check, as applicable:

  • Handlebar and stem installation;
  • Front-wheel installation;
  • Brake operation;
  • Tire pressure;
  • Pedals and crank components;
  • Seat and seat-post security;
  • Axle nuts and other fasteners;
  • Folding and locking mechanisms;
  • Battery installation and locking;
  • Electrical connections;
  • Lights and reflectors.

The rider is responsible for ongoing inspection and reasonable maintenance.

Customers who are not qualified or confident to assemble, adjust, diagnose, or repair an electric bicycle should obtain assistance from a qualified bicycle or electric-bike technician.

Unauthorized modifications, incompatible parts, incorrect assembly, neglected maintenance, or improperly performed repairs may create a safety risk and may affect warranty coverage.

7. Battery and Charging Safety

Likebike electric bicycles contain rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.

Customers must follow the instructions supplied with the product and battery. In particular:

  • Use only the charger supplied or expressly approved for the product;
  • Do not use a damaged, modified, incompatible, or uncertified charger;
  • Charge the battery in a dry and ventilated location;
  • Keep the battery away from flames, heat sources, water, and combustible materials;
  • Do not charge a battery that is swollen, leaking, punctured, deformed, overheated, or physically damaged;
  • Do not open, crush, modify, puncture, or short-circuit the battery;
  • Do not leave the battery charging unattended for extended periods;
  • Disconnect the charger after charging is complete;
  • Keep batteries and chargers away from children.

Immediately discontinue use and move away from the product when it produces smoke, sparks, excessive heat, unusual noises, leaking material, swelling, or a burning or chemical odor.

Do not dispose of lithium-ion batteries in household trash. Follow applicable local recycling and hazardous-waste requirements.
